Why Is Parent/Guardian Support Important for the Student?
If your student decides to embark on a transformative study abroad experience with NSFSS in the realm of climate change, environmental, and conservation studies in Africa, your support will be invaluable in ensuring their success. We understand that many students may have limited experience with international travel and its associated logistics. As such, they often rely on parents and guardians for assistance with pre-program planning regarding travel, financial aid and billing, and health and safety. Additionally, calculated pre-departure preparedness will go a long way in ensuring a seamless and pleasant experience abroad and in the field for the student.
To help simplify this process further, we give accepted students comprehensive materials to kick-start their preparations. We encourage you to motivate your students to actively engage in getting ready for their program, as it is a crucial part of their transformative study abroad experience.

Emergency Contacts

We understand that while your child is abroad, it’s crucial for you to maintain constant communication with them. We also appreciate that you may have specific questions or need personalized assistance. Therefore, we have put together a dedicated support team to address your concerns. In certain circumstances like medical emergencies or other critical issues, we will make every effort to contact parents or guardians or facilitate direct communication.

NSFSS maintains a 24-hour emergency message system while students are in the field. This system is designed for reporting family emergencies that require immediate contact with students.
